Common Questions:

I recently received an e-mail from NPR Newsletters (signed by Jon Foreman) requesting that I go to a URL to set my password in order to use the new NPR newsletter system. Is this some sort of scam? Will e-mail newsletters from NPR still be delivered if I don’t set a password?

No, this is not a scam. NPR recently upgraded its newsletter system and in order for you to manage your e-mail newsletter settings, you need to visit the URL that was sent to you in the e-mail and set a password for your account. Yes, the newsletters will still be delivered to your e-mail address if you don’t set a password.

I already set a password when I originally subscribed to NPR newsletters. Why do I need to set another one?

As part of an upgrade to the NPR newsletter system, we built a new account system on NPR.org. In order to ensure the security of your accounts, it was impossible to migrate the old passwords to the new system.

I recently received an e-mail requesting that I add newsletters@n.npr.org and allsongs@n.npr.org to my address book. Why should I do this?

By adding these new addresses to your address book, you are more likely to see e-mails from your NPR subscriptions in your inbox. Without this addition, your Internet Service Provider or e-mail client may route the message to your spam folder.

Why is NPR’s e-mail address changing to newsletters@n.npr.org from newsletters@npr.org? Is the ‘n.’ a typo?

NPR is upgrading its e-mail newsletter system so that it can offer a larger variety of newsletters and make it easier for you to discover newsletters you might like on NPR.org. In order to achieve this goal, we moved our newsletter service to a different system. This required that we change our e-mail address to newsletters@n.npr.org (and allsongs@n.npr.org for All Songs Considered subscribers). The ‘n.’ is not a typo – it stands for newsletters.
